We drove by on 8/18 while touring Route 66, and were saddened to see that the Rock Cafe had burned. I'm glad to read here that you are working to rebuild. Best of luck to you as you deal with all the steps of rebuilding.

Probably true about Sir Paul. They were in Branson last week so that would make sense. Can't wait to see the Cafe when it is back open, I remember the peach cobbler fondly.

"I am so thankfull to be involved with a group of people who truly hold American values that make us a force to be dealt with. Route 66 is representative of the America we all dream of and I’m proud of all of us and happy that Sir Paul and his girlfriend chose us to inspire their new relationship. It should be a rock solid bonding experience for them."
... That was so beautifully written, Dawn, and it speaks volumes about what Route 66 means to all of us. My wife and I stopped and ate at your cafe on April 13th (a Sunday brunch); and although you were not there, your presence and obvious love of the road (and the people who keep it alive) was felt through those who served us -- and "entertained" us! A great crew. We had fun and still recall that stop as one of the highlights of our Chicago-to-LA trip. (Oh, and the FOOD was great, too!) We're definitely coming back to see the new and better-than-ever Rock Cafe one day. Thanks for keeping the spirit of old '66 alive!

Awesome news all around. How about a fall barbecue? Round up all the smokers you can find, put a tent in the parking lot, and serve pulled pork and big slabs of ribs all day long.

Also, here's an off-site idea you might try while you're waiting for the Rock to be stabilized: MaggieMoo's Ice Cream Treatery in Tulsa (a franchise, but a stellar one) does a "celebrity scoops" program where nonprofits can get local celebrities to come and serve ice cream in exchange for a cut of the action. You and Michael could come out and serve ice cream (maybe even invent a special "Sally" flavor using the blue cotton candy ice cream as a base?) to raise money for the OK Route 66 Association's preservation committee, which of course would then contribute all the proceeds to the Rock. We might even talk the owner into getting some Cars graham crackers and fruit snacks and things to use as special mix-ins for that night only. Route 66 purists will probably cringe, but I think it'd be a good fundraiser, and I'm sure the owner would go for it. She sort of owes me a favor anyway....
